It’s February 29th, the first in four years and for most of us, it’s a pretty normal day. I’ve seen some promos related to the day (I think you can get free guac at Chipotle) but otherwise there’s not really anything that exciting to mark the occasion.
Here is my purely hypothetical way I’d like to celebrate Leap Day:
We all get the day off. It’s like President’s Day but it’s in the middle of the week because that’s when it falls. We all can sleep in.
Public parks set up trampolines where you can practice leaping. Other activities include jump rope and some kind of obstacle course. There’s no age limit on this and the lines are not bad because this is a fantasy.
I’m stuck on what the food should be for leap day but it should be whatever you’re craving. This year, I think I would want soft serve as snack (to symbolize a leap towards spring), a really excellent Caesar salad and fries for lunch, and sushi for dinner.
Anyone who has a birthday on Leap Day should get a free birthday cake (or favorite dessert) from their bakery of choice.
And now to get a bit more reflective, the past fours years have been a doozy.
