Hi friends,
This week’s newsletter accidentally only went to paid subscribers (I unlocked it so you can read it below) but it left me feeling like I needed to say hi!
Make Cookie Dough on your Lunch Break
Hi friends, April is halfway over as of today and it has flown by. I spent a Saturday bopping around, just like I had hoped, and spent Sunday planning my second trip to Maine with Tilden and her fam (counting down to oysters and strawberry season). I’ve been trying to read more before bed instead of scrolling. Results are mixed so far but I’m enjoying
I took today off with the aim of listening to the new Taylor Swift album (was not expecting a 2+ hour double album) and doing whatever I felt like. Unfortunately, I have a cough that won’t go away so I don’t feel like doing much. Still, it feels good to sit on the couch at noon on a Friday, listening, relistening, and reading reviews and tweets about an artist I’ve been following since 2006.

Soon, I’m going to take a walk to the library and pick up some lunch and then I need to do some passover shopping—I’m making a big batch of this for my family seder on Monday and my oven only fits one sheet pan at a time so it’s quite a production. I’m planning to keep Passover this year for as long as it serves me
I’m curious about your favorite ways to use a random day off. One of my New Year’s goals was to take more time off not related to other people’s milestones. Today is a milestone for Taylor, sure, but it’s also something nice for me and I want to take a few more days like this, in addition to the usual event related travel. I also have a trip planned for next month where I’m not even bringing my laptop (a first?). Hopefully next time I take a random day off, I’m feeling a little better, but I’m reminding myself that having a day to rest is a gift too.

Frida went to the WNBA draft! I really want to go to a game this season!
talked with about gathering, a delight!Do you identify as a morning person? Loved this essay from
I’m not a morning person but I do wake up earlyish (between 7 and 7:30, I don’t think actual morning people consider this early) so I can have some time to not rush in the morning. When I was freelancing and working from home, I liked to wake up around 8 and work till 6ish. Things evolve but I don’t think being a morning person is the only way to design a day that feels good to you.I’m leaving the comments open here so sound off on Taylor’s album, your favorite ways to spend a day off and what you’re cooking for Passover. Have a great weekend!
xo, Abigail
okay will start with some TS thoughts: this album is long and I need a lot of time with it! I am surprised to see so much about a short relationship versus a long one buttt midnights and lover had lots of Joe anxiety and sometimes the short ones hurt (hello, All Too Well). I am a pop girly so it's not in my top 3 at the moment but I will be listening more and love a lot of what I've heard.
On a day off, I like some iced coffee or a diner trip, a brief outing into nature with my wife, reading for fun, a nap, and an easy dinner. The diner-nature combo is really top notch.
