Hi friends,
It was a beautiful weekend and I’m ready for an exciting weekend ahead—Julianne and Ian are getting married and the city is in bloom (so allergies)! Walking around the this week was an exercise in glimmers—flowers, sunshine, and great architecture (I look in people’s windows obviously). I was down bad with a cold for much of the week but finally started to feel better around Wednesday. There is nothing like feeling better after being sick. The ability to exercise, stay up late, and go hours without blowing your nose feels like a superpower. I hope you have a good week and as always, appreciate you being here!
I saw the Idea of You yesterday at a screening that Hillary found and will be sending out a bonus newsletter with my thoughts later this week. Make plans to stream it ASAP!
Something to cook:
I did not cook much this week but wanted to highlight some Seder dishes. We went home with leftovers of course and leftover potato kugel is a treat (have it with a fried egg on top). They also made the four seasons salad from Let’s Eat, which is a kale salad with different mix-ins for each season (I’ve made the fall version with pumpkin seeds and roasted squash). The spring version had asparagus, almonds and mozzarella and was so good.
Otherwise, I cooked very sophisticated things like yogurt with berries (I’m contemplating getting back into Greek yogurt after a months long flight with regular yogurt) and scrambled eggs with tomatoes and cheddar.
Something to order:
Natalie was in town for a conference and we got a quick dinner at Mermaid Inn. A kale caesar (hold the croutons) with fries is a perfect kosher for Passover dinner and it was so nice to see her.
Dale and I had a date night at Le Baratin in the West Village, which is next to my eyebrow place (they’re the best, I’ve been going since 2016). I had walked by a million times but never gone in. It’s a really fun spot and the moules frites and warm goat cheese salad were delicious.
Tilden and I saw Challengers (which I loved and am resisting making my entire personality, might need a tennis skirt for spring) at the Angelika. Popcorn, a fountain seltzer, and peanut m&ms make a perfect meal. Cue Lorde’s Tennis Court.
Julia and I spent Saturday hanging in the East Village—we got lunch from Xe May Sandwich Shop (I got the vermicelli salad with portobello and tofu, so good and I will go back for a sandwich). We hung out for so long we got hungry again and got sushi from New Mizu, which had a great veggie selection.
I’ve had C&B saved on Google Maps for years so Dale and I went for breakfast on Sunday. He got the classic egg sandwich and I got their vegetable and egg curry over basmati rice, which was so savory and flavorful.
