Hi friends,

We’ve got a bit of a stream of consciousness here based on a few threads rattling around. It started last Thursday when I had dinner with Oset—we were talking about a restaurant with a fun tea service in the West Village and I said I wanted to go, but only as the start of “being out all day.” I want to have a day where I start out one place and then go many others, without a schedule or set plans.

The following day, I walked home from an event in the Lower East Side, which takes a little over an hour and involves the scenic but also not scenic walk over the Williamsburg Bridge (there’s some construction on the bridge right now but I always find it beautiful in an industrial way). It’s always steeper than I remember and was a little windy but warm enough for a pleasant walk with Kristiana. Once back on terra firma in Brooklyn, I wandered home, picking up takeout along the way.

On Saturday, I headed back to the Lower East Side to go to the tailor with Leah. The L wasn’t running normally so our route home would have involved a bus to the subway. As we stood on the street with the bridge to our left, I proposed we walk. And we did. It was even warmer and just as lovely—we even saw some graffiti with Leah’s name on it and the time passed quickly.

I used to try and walk over the Williamsburg Bridge around my birthday with an aim of contemplation (extremely Virgo behavior) and I also walked over it with Julianne when I had just started freelancing in 2018. I do love a big think but I also liked
