A summer bucket list spools out of me with very little effort (and I did a pretty good job with this year’s). It’s easy to make plans in the sun dappled city, when the days are endless and the beaches and rooftops are calling. For a few reasons, this summer was excellent, an all-timer, even. And it set the bar high for fall, which especially last year, was really hard. Fall is a middle ground: at the start, it carries the heat of summer, the spontaneity and the sun. But quickly, the sun starts setting and the mood shifts. Work gets busier, things get darker and colder and it’s time to get cozy.
This is my first fall bucket list and I’m creating it to combat my fall dread, which is borne from a wee bit of seasonal affective disorder and a love of sunlight. I’m also raising the bar from the past few falls. I prefer bucket lists to strict goals: we’ll get to what we get to but they’re meant to take some time.
I’d love to know what you’re planning for the fall!
