This Needs A Churu: A Dispatch from Este, My Cat
An experimental edition of This Needs Hot Sauce
By popular demand (from Erika), we have a special guest writer this week, Este Koffler, my cat! Someone asked me recently if getting a pet is all it’s cracked up to be and my honest answer is that it’s better. When I first announced my break up and plans to get a cat, so many of the comments were from people who had also gotten pets during hard times and couldn’t recommend it enough. They were right.
I adopted Este at the beginning of May from the wonderful team at Brooklyn Animal Action—if you’re looking for a cat, talk to Suse, she’s the best. Este has truly changed my life. I look forward to seeing her when I get home, she snuggles up next to me (or on top of me) each night, and I love seeing my friends and family interact with her, she’s very friendly and a true lap cat. She has a quizzical look much of the time, which is adorable—Frida described her as the kid who didn’t quite realize it was picture day. I have hundreds of photos of her on my phone and like every pet owner, will look through them when I miss her, and show them to anyone who is remotely interested
One quick announcement: next week, This Needs Hot Sauce is taking a summer break. We’ll be back with regularly scheduled programming on the 18th. Anyway, enough about me, let’s hear from the queen herself, Este.
